



Ciovo island in central Dalmatia, with an area of 28.8 km ² and 6071 inhabitants (1991).. Stretches in the east - the west and encloses the Kastela Gulf. The island is mountainous with the highest peak Rudine (209 m). In the northernmost part lies south of the town of Trogir with a shipyard, and other settlements were Arbanija and Slatina on the northeastern coast, in the interior of EDNO and Okrug Gornji and Donji on the west coast. Traces of life from ancient times, a valuable cultural monuments (the monastery of St.. Cross on the north coast, the Monastery of St.. Anthony, church of Prizidinice on the south side, 2 km from Slatina).
The island is famous for its Mediterranean climate, rich vegetation, archipelago of small picturesque islands, bays and beaches. It is administratively divided between Split, Trogir and Okrug. Places of Ciovo: Okrug Gornji, Okrug Donji, Arbanija, EDNO, Slatina.
Riviera district, only 4 km from the town of Trogir is a popular tourist destination in Trogir area.
For coming to the island of Ciovo should cross over two bridges: bridge lower mainland - Trogir (who is also the island) and then Trogir - Ciovo. In the summer months things unbearable caps throughout this section, and on arrival, and especially the return of the island, waiting for several hours. The plan is the construction of a new bridge east of Trogir (in the northern Adriatic Sea), which would connect with the mainland and Ciovo odteretio crossing over the center of Trogir.
